Part of our mission at the Clearwater Festival is to introduce and welcome people to the Hudson River. Come on down to Croton Point Park in Westchester County, NY and enjoy easy access to the Hudson River with Sloop & Schooner Sails, Rides on Small Boats, Canoes & Kayaks, and Beachcombing & River Seining.
Sloop & Schooner Sails The sloop Clearwater and the schooner Mystic Whaler are sister ships that spend their spring conducting Clearwater‘s award-winning education program with students of all ages. The season culminates with the two ships sailing in tandem at Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival. The Mystic Whaler then returns to her home in Long Island Sound while Clearwater carries on upon the Hudson.
At the Clearwater Festival, we are proud to offer festival-goers not only the chance to come aboard dockside for free tours, but the opportunity to sail with us on either of these historic Tall Ships. Sails are two hours and leave from the barge at the Working Waterfront. The licensed captain and professional crew will take you and your family for a peaceful sail around Haverstraw Bay and you are welcome to help raise the sail and take the helm, or just kick back and enjoy the view. You are welcome to bring a picnic and you won’t even miss out on the music as we staff each vessel with hardy, sea-going musicians to belt out a shanty or two. Click here to purchase sail tickets.
Rides on Small Boats, Canoes, & Kayaks Experience the pleasure of boating on the Hudson River. Visit the Working Waterfront and take a ride in a small boat, canoe or kayak.
Beach Combing & River Seining Get your feet wet with net seining in the river and see what creatures call the Hudson their home. At the end of the day, help release creatures back from where they came. Walk along the river’s edge with a guide and learn the stories of found objects.
